In the Spotlight!

Curbside Services to Begin Tuesday, July 7th
On or after Tuesday, July 7th, come to our parking lot during the following days and times to pick up requested materials:
Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Thursdays from 4 to 8 p.m.
Saturdays from 1 to 5 p.m.
You can pick up existing holds and requested in house items during these times. Though the library building remains closed to the public, we are very excited to get materials into your hands in this safe way.

Manage Your Holds Online...We Need Your Help
We have a backlog of over 100,000 items on our county holds list.  Trying to fill all of these holds when we reopen for contact-less pick-up (date TBD) will put a strain on our system and make wait times extra long.  (You've already waited months!)

We ask you to take a moment out of your day to look at your current holds after logging in to your account and ask yourself these questions:

Are you still interested in reading/watching/listening to the item?
  • If the answer is NO, cancel the hold
  • If the answer is YES, use one of these three options:
  1. Do nothing, and the item will be ready for pick up when we return to service. (Date TBD)
  2. FREEZE the hold.  Don't need it right away?  By freezing the hold, you won't lose your place in line and the item will stay on hold.  When you are ready for the item, you can unfreeze it at anytime.  (See below for how to freeze holds.)
  3. Move the item to your book list cart.  It will no longer be on hold, but you can put it back on hold when you are ready to read/watch/listen to it.
Are there items on your holds list that you have already read/watched/listened to and you don't need anymore?
  • If the answer is YES, cancel the hold.
  • If the answer is NO, see the options above for managing your holds.
Are you still interested in reading/watching/listening to the item, but can wait a while longer?
  • We strongly recommend Options #2 and #3 above.  This will help us get the most wanted items into people's hands faster.
How to Freeze Holds
To freeze a hold, go to the Requests page from the main navigation menu. You can freeze holds by checking the appropriate boxes in the Pending section and choosing the Freeze option from the On Selected dropdown.

Some FAQs:
Can I return materials? Sure, but you don't have to just yet. You can return materials to our book box located outside of the library, but please note that the countywide system is not prepared to accept check-ins yet, so the items will still be reflected on your account for now.

Am I being charged fines for materials I have at home or for returned materials that are still showing on my account? No. You will not owe fines on these materials. As we eventually work on checking in the backlog of returned items, all fines will be waived.

Are you accepting materials donations? We currently are NOT accepting any donations, though we appreciate the thought. Since we need to quarantine all items coming into the building, and since we have quite a backlog of system-wide materials, we do not have the space or staff time to devote to handling donated items at this time.

Don't forget about all of our great virtual programming which can be found on our YouTube channel.
